Professional Learning

BETreat Canada

BEtreatIn partnership with BCcampus two BEtreat workshops are coming to  Canada! Join us for a unique experience of engaging, connecting, and learning. In a retreat setting we explore opportunities and challenges facing people whose work involves the support and cultivation of networks, communities of practice, or social learning systems. The workshops will be held Oct 7-10 (State of the Art) and Oct 14 -17 (Cutting Edge). The facilitators of the workshops are Beverly Wenger-Trayner and Etienne Wenger-Trayner. Instructional Skills Workshop Online

This past academic year we ventured into a new area for BCcampus — online workshops. While we have been hosting online learning opportunities for many years, they have always been very informal, with no registration or obligation to participate. We awarded certificates of completion to 17 participants in the Instructional Skills Workshop Online (ISWO), a CC BY licensed workshop originally developed by Royal Roads University. We followed this with a newly developed Facilitator Development Workshop Online (FDWO), awarding certificates to 8 individuals who plan to facilitate the ISWO. Future plans include continuing to refine the workshops and finding more ways to bring together educators across the province to advance our work in online teaching and learning.
