New President
Royal Roads University welcomed a new president this year. Dr. Philip Steenkamp started as President and Vice Chancellor on January 1st. He has previously served as VP External Relations at Simon Fraser University, several deputy minister positions in BC and Ontario, and as President and CEO of the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.
New Building
The Centre for Environmental Science and International Partnership (CESIP) opened on September 7th 2018. This major upgrade and addition to the historic ‘Mews’ structure at RRU will feature labs, classrooms and areas for meetings, break-out sessions and social gatherings.
New Resource at CTET
The Centre for Teaching and Educational Technologies (CTET) has been involved in the development and trial of a new program mapping tool. Program maps differ from curriculum maps in that they capture essential elements of how a program is delivered including things like team-based learning, educational technologies used and assessment types, in addition to traditional curriculum data like alignment among outcomes and assessment. This tool has been used to generate program maps for several programs at RRU, and the resulting in reports guided informed discussions between CTET and Program staff.
