Langara College is hosting its new Digital Media Creators’ (DMC) Programme, offering faculty both theoretical and practical experience with different technical modalities including storyboarding, slide design, video production/post-production, and podcasts. Check out the module descriptions:
Module 1: Create/engage/share/reflect: Covers basic information about the DMC including Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and copyright, as well as both analog and digital means of discovering, digesting, sharing, and reflecting upon information.
Module 2: Visual storytelling: Covers techniques and media with which to visually note and convey ideas. These include sketchnoting, storyboarding, cartooning, and creating comic strips.
Module 3: Effective slide design: Covers effective techniques for creating engaging presentation slides using a variety of digital media including images, video, animations, and charts. Participants will also be introduced to the cognitive processes underlying learning with multimedia.
Module 4: Video production and post-production: Using Langara’s equipment  and Adobe’s Premiere Pro editing program, participants will shoot and edit a short (1-minute) video based on a concept central to their role within the College.
Module 5: Podcasting and audio: Covers the hardware and software needed to get started, recording tips, and instructions for editing and sharing your podcast with students.
NOTE: Module 1 is scheduled for October 24 from 10AM-12PM in the EdTech Lab. The DMC is open to all Langara faculty and staff.
