Technology Integrated Learning

Technology Integrated Learning (TIL) brings together faculty, staff, and students to envision a future for technology-enabled learning and teaching. We foster opportunities for dynamic learning with technology across all teaching and learning environments. Established in 2014 and led by Dr. Janni Aragon, TIL is continuously working with the UVic community to assess its pedagogical needs, find ways to fill gaps in support, and research innovative and emerging technologies. TIL consists of three branches: Education Technology Support, Learning Experience Design, and Emerging Technology Projects. This team structure allows for the thoughtful and flexible delivery of support and consultations for UVic faculty, instructors, students, and staff.
We continue to support our core platforms—our LMS (CourseSpaces/Moodle), our WordPress instance (the Online Academic Community), and polling technologies—while we research new tools and pedagogical approaches. Recent projects are a G-Suite pilot, collaborating with on- and off-campus partners to create and promote the use of Open Education Resources (OERs), supporting a Texidium pilot, investigating learning analytics options, and working with our Center for Accessible Learning. Our team members also present at various higher education and technology conferences on incorporating active learning in any classroom, designing engaging learning activities with polling technologies, and adapting and adopting open textbooks.

Division of Learning and Teaching Support and Innovation

The Division of Learning and Teaching Support and Innovation (LTSI) was recently established to more effectively support teaching excellence and student academic success at UVic. With the LTSI we foresee that we can better integrate resources and initiatives to create a stronger, unified, and accessible division to support UVic’s vision of dynamic learning environments.
