[T.E.L.L. March] Course (Re)Design

Why: Lunch n’ Learn sessions are opportunities to learn together about current topics of interest to educational practitioners. Participants are encouraged to remix and repurpose materials used in these sessions for use at their own institutions.


Session Description: Course (Re)Design

janine 2013 photoThis session is designed for specialists providing faculty support and professional development in course design or redesign.  The 50 minute session will provide an overview of 2 workshop formats for Course (Re)design processes for the purpose of refreshing a course that is currently being taught or creating a new course.
At UBC Okanagan, we offer 2 formats for Course (Re)Design. This session will overview the structure and goals of the 4 day seminar format modeled on a research-based course design process that focuses on learning-centered instruction and constructive alignment. The second format is the one day “Just in Time” Course (Re)Design format. Both formats focus on Learning-centered instruction and selecting instructional strategies that are the most likely to support that kind of learning. Educative assessment ensures that assessment leads to further learning with more emphasis given to formative rather than summative assessment. Constructive alignment aims to coordinate all the components of the course – content, objectives, strategies and assessment – so that one component reflects another.  Participants will receive resources and materials.


Participating in T.E.L.L. sessions:

  • No need to register  for the session
  • For assistance with using Blackboard Collaborate Check this resource.
  • Join the webinars at least 5 minutes prior to the start time.
  • Enter your full name when prompted and your institution/organization
  • Bring your lunch!
