Meet Naz Maghsoudi from the Justice Institute of BC

Michelle Harrison, Instructional Designer at Thompson Rivers University, asks Naz Maghsoudi from Justice Institute of BC about her ETUG experiences.

Tell us a bit about where you work and what you do.

I am the Coordinator of Student and Faculty Development in the Technology Enabled Teaching and Learning Center (TELT) at the Justice Institute of BC. My role is to educate and train faculty and students through seminars, workshops and tutorials on how to use educational technologies in teaching, learning and also day-to-day activities.
I also collaborate with Students Services, Library and program coordinators to develop online and print training materials based on their project needs.

How long been involved in teaching and Learning and ed technology?

I started in this field in 2003 when I was working as a co-op student for eLINC (back then SFU’s eLearning Innovation Center) at the Surrey campus. After I was done with my co-op experience in 2004 I graduated from SFU and immediately started a 1-year senior management program at BCIT called “New Media Design and Web Development”. By the time I graduated from BCIT in 2006 a Multimedia & Blackboard Technical Specialist position had become available at JIBC, which was a perfect match for me. And finally in September 2011 I started my new position at the newly established TELT center here at JIBC.

What’s one thing you really love about the work you do?

Innovation

How long have you been a member of ETUG?

Since September 2011.

What do you like best about this community and its activities?

Being connected with a group of people who are passionate about the same things that I am interested in and also being able to learn from their experiences.

Do you have a favorite ETUG memory?

The keynote speaker at the Spring Workshop 2012 (Alexandra Samuel) was very interesting for me.

What would you like to ETUG provide more of in terms of benefits/value to members? Any input or help you want to ask members to provide?

I am happy with things the way they are, so just keep up the good work.

Do you have any special interests/hobbies?

I love interior design. Reconfiguring a space by furniture, partitions and colors.
